Leychawne Johns, affectionately known as "the funeral guy" in Chester, has dedicated 38 years to mastering the funeral business. Growing up in a tough housing project near the waterfront, Johns began working in the industry at just 13, learning the trade as a helper at a local funeral home under the mentorship of then-Mayor Willie Mae James Leake. Her guidance set him on a path that led to his graduation from the American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service.
Though not yet a licensed funeral director, Johns has built a reputation through his hands-on experience and expertise, which he has used to support and elevate other funeral homes throughout his career. His work at various institutions, including the renowned Baker Funeral Home in Philadelphia, demonstrates his commitment to providing families with the utmost care and respect. Johns is known for his meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that those in his care are presented in the best way possible.
